UPDATED: August 27, 2022

Tax season is coming and we have  great news about a 2022 solar tax update. If you want to add solar in 2022 the recently signed federal spending plan has extended the federal investment tax credit for ten years.

The credit can be applied to  any federal taxes owed. The credit for home or commercial solar purchases were scheduled to drop to 22 percent in 2023. After that, the residential solar credit will be eliminated, and commercial and utility solar projects will be eligible for a 10 percent credit starting in 2024. Fortunately, the solar tax credit has been extended as of August 2022 for the next 10 years at a rate of 30%.
